Seminar seeks solutions to promote agricultural product exports via e-commerce platforms
The event is part of the Ho Chi Minh City Export 2025 product fair, which was also convened in the southern city.
At the seminar, economic experts, associations, representatives of businesses, and farmers exchanged, shared experiences, discussed, and proposed solutions to promote the export of Vietnamese agricultural products through cross-border e-commerce platforms.
According to the assessment of experts, Vietnamese agricultural products are increasingly focusing on improving quality to meet international standards for food safety and traceability.
Numerous Vietnamese agricultural products have been granted international certifications such as VietGAP, GlobalGAP, Halal and planting area codes. Vietnamese businesses and farmers are focusing on investing in advanced production technology and techniques to improve productivity and quality of products.
Participation in free trade agreements (FTAs) also opens many opportunities for Vietnamese agricultural products to access large markets around the world. It is predicted that the country’s agricultural sector will have more room for export growth in 2025. Total export turnover of agricultural products may reach 64 billion USD or more this year, higher than the 62.5 billion USD recorded in 2024.
During his presentation at the seminar, Nguyen Van Ha, General Director of Vietnam Agricultural Products International Trading Joint Stock Company, stated that the key competitive advantages for businesses in the agricultural product market currently lie in factors such as sustainable supply chains, direct procurement from farmers, rigorous quality control to meet domestic and international market demands, and a strong network of international partners and customers.
With the objective of further expanding the reach of Vietnamese agricultural products, the company will foster partnerships with farmers, cooperatives, and manufacturing companies to establish sustainable sourcing regions. This will involve assisting farmers in achieving international standards such as VietGAP, GlobalGAP.
Le Thanh Liem, Deputy General Director of Felix.store, said Felix.store is a purely Vietnamese e-commerce platform. It has "covered" 48 out of 63 provinces and cities across the country, and signed cooperation agreements with Farmers’ Associations in nearly 30 provinces and cities in the southern region to facilitate farmers’ entry into e-commerce and transition to online business models.
Le Quoc Khoi, an AI expert at Engma Technology Company, said that the swift adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) is crucial for farmers and businesses to enhance their competitive advantage in the e-commerce sector.
AI application, through commonly used tools like Chatbots and Chat GPT, can empower farmers and businesses to identify optimal distribution channels and pricing decisions, automate and optimise management, streamline production operations and enhance customer care activities.
