Russia’s Pskov oblast always welcomes Vietnamese investors
Moscow – Pskov oblast of Russia welcomes all enterprises that want to do business or invest in the locality, including those from Vietnam, its Governor Mikhail Vedernikov said at a meeting with foreign reporters on August 28.
Noting that all countries whose goods are accessing the Russian market have quite competitive products, Vietnamese goods are still available in significant quantities in Pskov. However, he said that Pskov oblast has been importing Vietnamese goods through large retail chains because it helps consumers buy products at cheaper prices than ordering directly.
Pskov is not one of the richest localities in Russia, but so far it has signed cooperation agreements with 95 countries and territories around the world, he told the Vietnam News Agency (VNA)'s reporter.
According to Vedernikov, despite various difficulties caused by the blockage and embargo, Pskov has continued to record positive growth, at about 10%, and offered many incentives to domestic and foreign firms investing and doing business in this northwestern region, especially in its special economic zones.
In response to a question about the demand for recruiting foreign labourers, including those from Vietnam, to work at manufacturing enterprises in the oblast, Vedernikov said that he regularly exchanges with employers and they highly appreciate the qualifications of Vietnamese workers.
Vietnamese workers are hard-working, willing to work with a serious schedule, ready to hold responsibility and produce high-quality products, he said, elaborating that this is the reason why there is a significant number of Vietnamese workers currently working in the industrial city of Velikye Luki in the oblast.
