China emerges as largest importer of Vietnamese animal feed and raw materials

The export of these products to the northern neighbour during the first half of the year dropped by 16.6% to over US$200.48 million compared to the same period from last year.

June alone witnessed exports to this market reach US$36.59 million, down 12% compared to May and down 24.4% compared to June 2023.

The US ranked second with turnover with nearly US$63.62 million, up 91.8%, Cambodia with US$55.54 million, down 33.5% and Malaysia with US$49.51 million, down 4.1%.

Pham Kim Dang, deputy director of the Department of Animal Husbandry, assessed that these positive results can be attributed to the nation’s advanced technologies and the overall quality of animal feed that has fully met the stringent requirements set by foreign importers.

According to information provided by the General Department of Vietnam Customs, export earnings of animal feed and raw materials in the first half of the year reached over US$492.88 million, down 5.6% compared to the same period from last year.
